Creating places people are proud to call home
Ahead of scaffolding being installed for a roof replacement project at one of our apartment buildings in Runcorn, we have completed hedge and shrub reductions. Customers have told us that this work has already had a positive impact on the appearance and safety of the neighbourhood.
Liverpool
Enabling people to be there best
At Morley Court, one of our Older Person’s schemes in Liverpool, we partnered with Mersey Care to set up a Neuroharmony Group. The group, which was created to support neurodiverse customers after a local service closed its doors, will see a programme of wellbeing activities delivered at the scheme this year.
We also partnered with Job Centre Plus and Everton in the Community to deliver a Meet the Employer event this Summer where attendees had an opportunity to make connections with local employers from the trade and construction sectors.
Local employers, including AA Molyneux, Bell Group, Casey, George Jones and Visty to name a few, gave attendees valuable insights into different career paths through networking, whilst Job Centre Plus provided personalised career advice and delivered CV writing sessions.
Since the event, AA Molyneux, a Liverpool based builder, has taken on two of the attendees as apprentices.
Working closely with our contractor Novus Property Solutions, we have helped to deliver a safe space with Everton in the Community (EitC) that will make a meaningful difference to the lives of our customers and allow hundreds of young people here to thrive.
This has included transforming the garden area at 41 Goodison into a relaxing and therapeutic outdoor space for young people living with a variety of complex challenges, including special educational needs, developmental disabilities and poor mental health. As well as donating laptops and a digital smartboard through Onward Digital Connect to support a programme that helps young people who are at risk of exclusion in mainstream education, enabling them to develop digital skills in a nurturing environment.
Over at Stanley Terrace, one of our Older Persons schemes in Liverpool, customers came together to celebrate Easter with games, food and entertainment designed to boost wellbeing.
At Holmwood and Ashfarm, two of our other schemes in the area, customers finished their stained-glass window project with Lark Lane Community Centre. The project saw customers come together over several sessions to create a stained-glass window which will be displayed at the scheme.
At Ennis Court, customers came together for crafting sessions designed to support wellbeing, and at Rosemoor Gardens, customers took part in a planting day. Christine, a customer living at Rosemoor Gardens said: “The garden session has really helped with my anxiety and helps the environment, I love gardening as well, it’s nice to look at the flowers when sitting out here.”

In Kirkdale, our largest retrofit project will see 400 of our oldest homes made warmer, quieter and more comfortable for customers. As well as repairing roofs, installing new insulation, windows and doors, our contractor Novus are also providing social value in the local area, with more than £50,000 already invested into community.
Creating places people are proud to call home
During antisocial behaviour week, we delivered a series of series of impact days and walkabouts across Merseyside with local police forces and teams across Onward to raise awareness.
We proudly supported #KeepNorthDocksTidy, a powerful partnership with Liverpool City Council, LSSL – Soil Fertility Services, Keep Britain Tidy, Veolia UK and local primary schools. Over three weeks, more than 150 pupils from seven North Liverpool schools were out in their communities, litter-picking, learning about sustainability and creating inspiring posters to promote environmental responsibility.
As part of our wider improvements in Liverpool, we joined forces with the Kirkdale Litter Network and Everton in the Community to clear 71 bags of rubbish, making the area clean for the community to enjoy.
We also worked with the council, South Liverpool Homes and students from The Academy of St Nicholas to clear litter in hotspot areas across Garston.

As part of the Great British Spring Clean, we joined forces local partners across Wirral to deliver community litter picks, waste removals, and alleyway clearances, and provided residents with support and advice on related issues.
And in Beechwood, customers joined us at a neighbourhood walkabout and told us about some overgrown green space. Onward Environmental cut back the grass and made the space useable again.
