York Street development – have your say
Give your feedback on plans to develop new affordable homes on the Garston Industrial Estate.
Onward is proposing to develop 193 quality affordable homes on York Street in Garston.
The scheme will provide 97 homes for affordable rent and 96 homes for shared ownership, and will be built by Crossfield Construction. All homes for shared ownership will be made available for sale through Onward Living.
As one of the North West’s leading providers of quality affordable housing – and with over 200 rented properties in the immediate vicinity of Garston Industrial Estate – we are uniquely placed to embark on progressive plans to develop this area.
Before plans progress, we want to hear from local residents – and potential residents – on what they think of the plans, to ensure we’re building homes that suit the local community.
Types of properties
The proposals, which have been submitted for planning approval, include:
- One- and two-bedroom apartments
- One-bedroom walk-up flats
- Two-bedroom bungalows
- A range of three- and four-bedroom family homes
- A dedicated area of public amenity space that will provide a focal point to the development
The plans have been developed by John McCall Architects with input from Onward and have also been independently reviewed by an architectural design panel to ensure the quality of the proposition.
Share your thoughts
Under normal circumstances, a public consultation would have been undertaken to get local resident views on the site’s development, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic this hasn’t been possible.

All feedback will be recorded and used to develop the proposals in order to maximize the quality of the new streets, homes and amenity areas.
