Sunshine and smiles at Brunswick community fun day

Residents once again flocked to Gartside Gardens for Brunswick’s annual fun day, hosted by Brunswick Tenants and Residents Association (BTARA) and supported by S4B with other organisations.

BTARA played a key role in bringing the event together, helping to make sure residents of all ages could enjoy a free, friendly and accessible day in the heart of the neighbourhood.

The popular community event brought together many other partners in addition to BTARA and S4B, including Brunswick Church, Wai Yin, M13, The University of Manchester, MCC Ardwick, Morgan & Sindall, Ardwick Scouts and Climate Action Change, all helping to make the day another huge success.

Families enjoyed a packed programme of activities, from face painting, a bouncy castle and outdoor games to skateboarding, a bubble machine and a petting zoo featuring a pony, goat and lamb. Free ice cream and snacks were also available, adding to the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

Alongside the games, there were fun educational activities for curious young minds, including the chance to learn how to build an atom for all the budding scientists. Climate Action shared green awareness advice and handed out plants to encourage residents to think about the environment.

The day highlighted the strength of partnership working in Brunswick, with community groups, local organisations and service providers coming together to support residents and create a positive shared experience.

Green Party Councillor Alex-Salik Imran (pictured), attended to meet residents in his new ward and share information about the support available locally.

He said: “It was fabulous to attend Brunswick’s annual fun day as one of my first events as a newly elected councillor in Ardwick, and to meet so many residents enjoying everything on offer. Events like this show the real strength of the community, bringing families, local organisations and partners together in such a fantastic way.”

Ross Hemmings, S4B Customer Service and PFI Manager, added: “The annual fun day is always a highlight in the Brunswick calendar, and it was brilliant to see so many residents, families and partners come together to enjoy the day.

Events like this are a great example of what can be achieved through strong local partnership working, and we’re proud to support BTARA and the wider community in making it such a success. With fantastic weather, plenty of smiles and lots for all ages to enjoy, the annual fun day was once again a brilliant celebration of the Brunswick community.”
