Tameside community group calls for votes to help bag Tesco funding

A Tameside health support project is hoping to bag a massive cash boost to help fund group activities – and they need your vote.

Zest health and wellbeing group, based at the Hub on Stockport Road, has been shortlisted for the Bags of Help programme.

The Tesco-run initiative aims to support local community-based groups and projects, offering the opportunity to apply for funding generated from carrier bag sales.

Zest is a community-led group, supported by Onward – and if successful, the grant would be used to fund health focused workshops and events, as well as a summer community fayre.

Shantel Dyer, Hub assistant manager, said: “The health and wellbeing of our customers is very important to us. We are delighted to have got to this stage and, if successful, we hope to support even more Tameside residents to improve their situation for the better.”
