What is antisocial behaviour?

The types of incidents we consider to be antisocial behaviour are included but not limited to the list here. This is based on the Antisocial Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2024.

Everyday household noise or normal neighbour activity is not usually classed as antisocial behaviour. This includes things like children playing or babies crying, doors closing, people using stairs or talking, cooking smells, noise from appliances or DIY, and parking disagreements.

Our antisocial behaviour toolkit has more information about the types of behaviour you can report to us and what happens next.

  • Persistent and excessively loud noise

  • Assault or physical violence

  • Aggressive or threatening language or behaviour

  • Harassment

  • Domestic abuse

  • Racist or homophobic abuse or graffiti

  • Drug dealing

  • Hate crime (harassing someone because of their race, nationality, sexuality, gender, religion, disability or age)
