Work starts on 212 new homes at partnership scheme in Leyland
The second phase of our Farington Mews development with housebuilder Keepmoat is now underway, creating 212 new homes.
The development on Croston Road in Leyland will see 18 new affordable homes built in partnership with Onward Homes. As well as providing homes for affordable rent, Onward will also support local people onto the housing ladder through shared ownership.
As the construction on phase one enters its final stage, work on the second phase has commenced on the site, which was originally allocated for housing in 2015. Due to complete in 2030, Farington Mews will ultimately deliver 521 new energy-efficient homes, creating much-needed homes for local people.
During the development of Farington Mews, the Keepmoat team created 21 new apprenticeships, five full-time jobs and 18 work experience placements. The team also partnered with the Lancashire Careers Hub to provide valuable insights into the different job roles available in the industry.
Stephen Heverin, Director of Growth and Regeneration at Onward, said: “Farington Mews is a fantastic example of strong partnership working to deliver really positive outcomes for local people. As well as helping renters find more affordable options in their area, and helping local people put down roots through shared ownership, Farington Mews is also creating great opportunities for the next generation of construction talent.”
Peter Barlow, Regional Managing Director at Keepmoat, North West, said: “We’re delighted to launch the next phase of this flagship Lancashire development, continuing our journey to deliver much needed housing in the region.
“At Keepmoat, we are proud to be delivering multi tenure, energy efficient, top quality homes designed for the future. The development is surrounded by green space and is well connected to neighbouring towns and cities, creating a thriving new community in the town of Leyland.”
With Liverpool and Manchester accessible via train or car, Farington Mews is close to a range of amenities, nature reserves and parks and also has well-connected cycle and public transport routes – perfect for commuters and families.
