1st Call is Onward’s flagship support programme; here to help you with employment & training support, financial support & applications and general housing advice. Please find a list of the areas we serve below:
We’ve teamed up with Tameside Council to provide a work and skills coaching service to local people living in Hattersley, Tameside. More than 60 people have been supported into work over the past two years, with many more accessing our free training and skills development opportunities.

Our flagship 1st Call unit is located in the Arndale in Accrington – here to help you with employment & training support, financial support & applications and general housing advice. They are currently open for telephone and face-to-face appointments.
At 1st Call we take a holistic approach when supporting customers. We are very flexible and work on a drop-in basis, although we are happy to book appointments for more complex support needs.
- 10.00 – 15.00 on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday (Closed between 12.30 – 13.00 for lunch)
- 10.00 – 14.00 on Wednesday

1st Call Preston can provide a range of employment support services through the projects More Positive Together and MPT STEPS, including:

- Signposting to volunteering opportunities
- Signposting to training
- 1-2-1 employment mentoring
- Interview coaching
